Samantha Griffitts is an artist, illustrator, and therapist whose Anglican faith drives her to contribute truth, beauty, and goodness to the world. Samantha spends her time walking with people experiencing the distress of anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder, as well as painting, drawing, and illustrating. Happiest at the intersection of theology, psychology, and the visual arts, her experiences in systematic theology courses at seminary were the early seeds of her current artistic work. There, she was fortunate to have been encouraged to create visual representations of theological concepts. Samantha's book, Light Shining Out of Darkness, the illustrated poetry of 18th century writer William Cowper, is available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble in the United States, and through Amazon and the Cowper & Newton Museum in the UK. Light Shining Out of Darkness made Amazon's Top 20 books in Anglican Christianity, the Top 50 in Christian Poetry, and the Top 50 books in Religious Arts and Photography. In addition to her illustration work, Samantha also paints on canvas and wood panels, and also creates mixed media pieces on illustration board. In September of 2025, her piece, "Dove," was auctioned by Fieldings Auctioneers Ltd. in Stourbridge, England. All proceeds from the art auction supported Doves for Peace to help children affected by war across the world. Samantha lives and works in Kentucky with her husband and son, where her family has resided for four centuries. She is the 14th great granddaughter of martyr Dr. Rowland Taylor, Rector of Hadleigh, in Suffolk, England.
